Raining's Stairs
This long-vacant, challenging sloping site in the heart of Inverness required an intelligent solution to provide sixteen social housing units, within what is now a high profile development. The project was awarded the prestigious 2019 RIAS Award for Architecture, judges were quoted as saying that it is;
'a building of significant architectural quality' and 'a key element within the overall city centre regeneration and transformation'...
'Its implementation has transformed and revitalised what was an all but abandoned no-go area of the city. The pleasant and now frequently used external public stairway and pedestrian route... gives access to a series of external landings serving the three tiers of housing which provide 16 much needed flats. The architect’s innovative layout has intentionally enabled the main living area of each flat to benefit from attractive southerly views, further adding to the desirability of these cleverly planned affordable homes.'

Trail Architects was established in 2017 by a group of like-minded, talented, experienced professionals.
We are successfully working across the UK on a variety of interesting and exciting projects from very small interventions to major refurbishment projects and large mixed-use new build developments. We are fortunate to enjoy positive long-lasting working relationships with our clients and collaborators.
We provide a full spectrum of architectural services, from initial strategic design and preparation of the project brief, through to detailed design and construction stages and ultimately through to project completion.
In addition to Architectural services, we deliver planning specific services, Interior Design and a range of project management services varying from the establishment of initial project objectives, managing the design co-ordination and procurement process through to quality management and financial reporting. Our professional team are currently involved in delivering a range of high-quality buildings to our existing clients around the UK.
